Silesian College of Medicine in Katowice in Katowice is one of the first non-public specialized medical schools in Poland with the rights of a public institution.

 

The College was founded in 2008 and since then has been constantly expanding its educational offer of medical sciences studies at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels. It conducts numerous trainings and courses.

 

The mission of the College is to conduct modern practical education in fields of medical sciences corresponding to current trends in the Polish and European labor markets.

 

Education offered in the Silesian College of Medicine in Katowice focuses primarily on developing practical professional skills, which is why practical classes are conducted in professionally equipped, modern laboratories.

 

Curricula created in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education are reviewed by employers who are able to best determine what qualifications a graduate should have.

 

Students who are part of the Program Council, the Library Council, the Academic Senate, the Scholarship Committee and other institutional bodies play a large role in the Academy’s lawmaking process.

 

Qualified academic staff is made up of highly esteemed scientists, teachers and practitioners with extensive professional experience in the fields taught.

 

Having the rights of a public school, Silesian College of Medicine in Katowice in Katowice is subject to Polish legislation, regulations and control of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

 

The College has been positively evaluated by the State Accreditation Committee for education in the fields of Cosmetology, undergraduate program (see a copy of the State Accreditation Committee opinion), Dietetics undergraduate program (see a copy of the State Accreditation Committee opinion), Cosmetology graduate program (see a copy of the State Accreditation Committee opinion).

 

In 2015, the College received permission to introduce an undergraduate program in Gastronomy.

Mission

Silesian College of Medicine in Katowice is the first private college in Silesia specializing in medicine-related sciences, one of very few in Poland Its establishment was the result of cooperation between outstanding specialists in the field of medicine-related sciences highly esteemed both in Poland and abroad. Acknowledging the need for flexible education in the medicine-related specialties, a recognized team of specialists decided to meet the expectations of the Polish and European labor market. Modern education and fostering a generation of well prepared, both in theory and practice, graduates is a foundation of the College mission.

 

The mission of the Silesian College of Medicine in Katowice is to train specialists in accordance with the highest educational standards, following programs that are adapted to the dynamically changing needs of the regional and domestic market.

 

The College promotes education in the spirit of respect for the freedom of science, integrity, responsibility for the homeland, as well as professional and civic responsibility. Fulfilling its mission, the College fosters a sense of dignity, patriotism and the importance of democracy as well as the right moral and social attitudes in our students. It also promotes a culture of education within its socio-economic environment.

 

The College has a vision to maintain the highest quality of education and scientific research, as well as to shape right moral attitudes.

The College achieves this goal through:

Ensuring appropriate learning conditions.

Silesian College of Medicine in Katowice has specialist laboratories and didactic aids vital in the process of teaching general and specialist subjects. It also has a library and a reading room.

Coordination and improvement of the quality of programs.

One of the academic bodies is the Academic Team for Education Quality Assurance which conducts periodic evaluation of the programs, and takes great care to assure proper selection of content and teaching methods.

Transmission of knowledge within the current education program, in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Developing practical skills by, for example, internships.

Increasing motivation for development and self-study.

In addition to the traditional assessment method, the school also runs the ECTS – European Credit Transfer System Our students have the opportunity to consult the lecturers outside the lecture hours covered in the teaching program. Good academic results are awarded with scholarships.

Taking care of promoting freedom of scientific research by establishing research clubs, organizing conferences and training workshops.

Promoting professional and scientific development as well as systematic evaluation of the teaching staff.

It is a collective body composed of representatives of local and regional public administration bodies, national and regional associations and local government organizations as well as economic self-government, distinguished representatives of science as well as entities that sponsor the operation of the College.
